Karoll Becomes the First Brokerage to Offer Margin Trading and Short Selling on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange.
Karoll scored another first by being the first brokerage firm to offer its clients margin trading and short selling of stocks listed on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange. Starting from September 23, Karoll offers its clients greater flexibility and more opportunities in the financial markets with a dynamic margin trading and short selling module, which is fully integrated in Karoll’s trading platform Karoll Broker. The module allows investors to monitor and manage their margin accounts, collateral available for short selling, cash and stock balances.
Margin trading and short selling allow investors to take leverage positions in the stock market and to take advantage of falling stock prices; provide greater hedging and risk management capabilities; give flexibility to choose the time frame and scale of funding; and, finally, margin funding is much faster and easier to access than repo agreements and other financing options.
By launching margin trading and short selling Karoll aims to improve the overall quality and diversity of services offered by brokerage firms in Bulgaria. Margin trading and short selling contribute to the development of the Bulgarian stock market as they are some of the most important drivers of liquidity, prevent the market from overheating and help in determining the fair value of assets traded. Additionally, they are crucial for the development of complicated trading strategies and derivative instruments.
